Highlights of some other cool things ive learned over the past few months

Here they are ( some of those are old news while others are brand new):

- I am considering guidance counselling as a career : in response to this, I have signed up to take AP Psychology next year!

- I want to tryout for the improv team next year ( for reasons already stated in a late feb. post of 2005!)

- I want to do some volunteer work: ( I have it narrowed down to 4 possible positions : one of two public speaking positions, info. booth attendant or a general assistant)

- I am considering joining / looking into the Toastmasters club ( which helps to improve communication and leadership skills: Ideal for a guidance counsellor in 2 ways: its volunteer work and developed some skills necessary for guidance counselling) and it'll also possibly serve if I so choose to join it, to make either one of the two public speaking positions more realistic to apply for)

- We have completed up to sessions 3 of the 7 sessions of Quest of 1 of our 2 plan run-throughs of the quest program ( that doubles of 7 sessions for anyone to wants to do the math= 14 sessions to supervise with in total

- I sent an application in to go to live on campus or with a french family for 1, 3 or 5 weeks during the summer to learn better french oral and written communication skills, learn french through activities such as cultural activities, sports, music,etc...etc... I've heard that to go on one of those in terms of learning is the equivalent ( if not more than) an entire year of core french ( due to the fact you are getting so much exposure to french) . I mean you even get burseries offered to you to pay for this!

- Within the school, I am making some strong friendships that have the potential to become platforms from which to tell and live out the gospel and to discuss spiritual issues

This is a handful of the useful lessons i have learned and things ive learned i may be interested in in the last few months and/or law few years!

Mar 18th/2005: the ultimate friday (well close enough!)

Ok so school today went rather welll: (as the 'appetizer' for today's course) I got to watch a movie in world history, got to study practice for upcoming tests in 2 subjects, worked on a magazine cover as if you'd expect one of today's magazines to look back in 44 b.c and( as the 'pre -main meal' for today) In theatre arts: getting to tye together the final knots on our play we will perform on monday : " All I need to know I learned in kindergarden"

( as the first part of my main course,) These were the marks I got back today:

100% in a math quiz

and 94% on a economics test (woot woot!)

( as the 'second half of my main meal'( I am speaking figuratively here !) ) Then you know, I got home and had a brief yet great two-sided discussion with my sister on random topics from greek mythology to christianity to things going on at I.J to other random topics. To top that off earlier that day, I had stayed behind in order to get in a 'juicy' convo. with morag and my economics teacher: we talked about everything from economics to how people have different learning styles to psychology to biology ,etc..etc... ( Yes, it did last 30 minutes and we had another that lasted 30 minutes as well! ) ( Yes I am a social animal.... joking) Not to mention having a early supper of chicken tacos with zesty ranch sauce....yummy!
(and other great events which I lack time to mention)

(As the 'dessert' for today's course) We started off with our boys night out/ girls night out ( I being a guy) I got to go to wall nuts at 8 pm to go wall climbing until 9:15 p.m

This is my highlights:

I managed to climb 2 different walls back-to-back!

3 Other major attempts to climb the wall where I got 2/3 of the way up the wall but got too tired and had to come down

many blopped attempts for me to even to the half-day point.

But thats not all ( for this 'dessert') I went back to the Kenways with the other guys ( in my reservish looking camou . sweater: but thats another story in itself and how I got it!) and we talked, listened and/or played guitar or piano, played a 15-game air hockey tournament were ' 2 strikes and you're out so to speak' ( each strike being a air hockey match played to 3 points with the exception of the first game i played which went to 5: i lost 4 to 5 against andrew s.) Then of course, I was in the 'losers round' in which( 'the winner of the losers' would finally play against ' the winner of the winners' and yes that is funnt wording!) to lose even once more would eliminate you from the tourney: it happened I lose 2 to 3 to kevin G.

The favourite part of this being when mike vokey and andrew sutherland was playing: Andrew S.'s first goal was the most hillarious I have seen in air hockey so far! : Mike attempted to do the move in air hockey nicknamed ' suicide' ( because it is usually performed when the puck is in the dead center of the air hockey rink: the user flicks their hitter in order to hit the puck in hopes that the 'inconceivable' speed of the puck ( will hopefully) be combined with someone who knows how to aim properly and an opponent caught off-guard) In order for Mike Vokey to order to deliver a decisive 1/3 victory (1 goal is 1/3 of the goal necessary to win: 3 goals) , mike vokey performed suicide at what seemed like the most ideal time ( One major flaw had happened though) when in a matter of seconds, the hitter moved faster than the puck and the hitter got ahead of the puck: leaving Mike Vokey defenseless. Andrew Sutherland notices this and stops Mike Vokey's hitter and nails it with his own and sends mike vokey's hitter on a collision course with the puck: allowing Andrew Sutherland to score by getting mike's hitter to nail the puck back at the net , one problem for mike though: he has no hitter with which to defend against this embarrasing 'onslaught'! : leaving him wide open. The result: mike vokey's 'suicide' move failed, allowing Andrew to use Mike V. own hitter to deflect the incoming puck away from himself, towards mike's net. This time however, the puck moved faster than the hitter. By the time Mike Vokey got the hitter back it was too late, Andrew Sutherland had already scored.
If this wasn't bad enough, this would come back to haunt mike vokey: andrew sutherland beat mikley vokey 3 to 2 : one of andrew's 3 goals was mike's embarrasing ' suicide' backfire!

This would haunt him even further: the losing of this game later put him in danger of being knocked out of the tournament before the semi-finals ( or at the semi-finals) : it happened when David got a decisive victory over Mike V. ( Knowing how tall Mike Vokey is , you could say it was a modern-day David and Goliath situation.... pardon the pun)

And well, thats the highlights of today's day
